Social Aspects of the Application of Artificial Intelligence and Transhumanism
An international scientific conference of the Institute of Social Sciences, held on 23–24 October 2025 in Belgrade with the support of ProForma.
About the conference
The Centre for Sociological and Anthropological Research of the Institute of Social Sciences organised the international scientific conference Social Aspects of the Application of Artificial Intelligence and Transhumanism, held on 23 and 24 October 2025 in Belgrade. ProForma was among the organisations that supported the conference.
Over the past ten years artificial intelligence has taken an ever larger role in organising people’s lives. Part of the international community of social sciences and humanities seeks to explore, explain and predict the impact of this technology on society. One aim of the conference was to synthesise existing knowledge and to examine the impact of AI on society as a whole, as well as on culture, art, the media, intellectual property and ethics.
Transhumanism
The use of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies to enhance human capabilities has brought the concept of transhumanism to the fore: a beneficial connection between human and machine that improves the abilities needed for work and creativity, among other things. As its influence grows, concepts such as human integrity, human freedom, social status, social differences and stratification need to be reconsidered. The conference aimed to contribute to a broader discussion of the possibilities and limits of transhumanism.
Programme
The conference programme included 30 papers and 40 researchers from Serbia, Slovenia, Greece, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey and other countries.
